BLACK CREEK - Hazel E. Lyman, 102, formerly of 7952 Ramsey Road, Black Creek, passed away Thursday (April 3, 2014) at Cuba Memorial Hospital's Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy illness.

Born April 23, 1911, in Groveland, she was a daughter of Frank A. and Ethel Van Gilder Gross. On Oct. 3, 1935, she married Parley Lyman, who predeceased her in January 1965.
Hazel had worked for the Ontario Knife factory in Franklinville and retired from the Olean Tile plant, where she had been a housekeeper. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, word search puzzles and spending time with family.
Surviving are a son, John (Nancy) Lyman of Black Creek; a daughter-in-law, Betty (Bill) Harmon of Belfast; a sister-in-law, Neva Gross of Wellsville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Ernest Lyman; and four brothers, Bernard Gross in 2012, Edward Gross in 2006, Clyde Gross in 2006 and Kenneth Gross in 1986.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home Memorial Service Inc., 9 Bull St., Cuba, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday (April 7, 2014), at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Mark King will officiate. Burial will be in Hardy's Corners Cemetery, Rushford.
