LITTLE VALLEY - Burton E. Newark, 86, of Bucktooth Run, passed away Wednesday (April 16, 2014) at his home.
He was born March 15, 1928, in Salamanca, the son of the late James and Iva (Weaver) Newark.

Mr. Burton was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy.

He was employed at the Salamanca Public Utilities for more than 30 years until his retirement. He also had been the chairman of the Salamanca Board of Public Utilities.

He was married to Thelma Newark, who predeceased him in 2011.

He is survived by two sons, Steven (Dolores) Newark of Little Valley and David Newark of Salamanca; a daughter, Marjorie McLaughlin of Coatesville, Pa.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Herman Newark of Wellsville; two sisters, June Scrock of Indiana and Anna Wesley of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he is predeceased by a brother, Jack Newark; and a sister, Marian Pieklo.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday (April 21, 2014) at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St., Little Valley. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Little Valley Rural Cemetery.
