Born Jan. 5, 1963, in Salamanca, he was the son of Linda Miller Abrams and the late David Lichy. He was married June 14, 2008, in Allegany State Park, to Leona Halftown Lichy, who survives. He had previously been married to the late Shelly Jones Lichy, who predeceased him in 2001.
Mr. Lichy was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, the Deer Clan and the Coldspring Longhouse. He had been employed as a Union Carpenter with Local 0276 for over 20 years. He formerly owned and operated J-Town Tire Service in Jimersontownn, and had worked for the Seneca Nation of Indians in various positions. Jay loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family, especially his children.
Surviving besides his wife, are a daughter, Jayde Lichy; a son, Bryce Lichy, both of Salamanca; two sisters, Michele Lichy of Salamanca, and Stefanie (Mike) Olson of Minnesota; a brother, Jonathan (Tammy) Lichy of Salamanca; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call beginning Sunday and all day Monday at the family home at 3626 N. Authority Road, Kill Buck. Funeral services will beheld at 10 a.m. Tuesday (May 13, 2014), in the family home and be conducted by speakers from the Coldspring Longhouse. Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery in Jimersontown. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Funeral Home Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca.
