OLEAN - William A. Ricci, of Eden Heights, formerly of Colonial Village in Allegany and Hamilton Avenue in Olean, passed away Monday (May 12, 2014), at Olean General Hospital.

He was born April 9, 1926, in Olean, a son of the late Natale and Melania Caffo Ricci.
On Sept. 18, 1948, in Olean, he married the former Nancy A. Williams, who passed away Aug. 2, 2012.
Bill attended Olean High School. He enlisted at 17 years old and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He served on the heavy cruiser U.S.S. Minneapolis, and received 10 Asiatic Pacific Battle Stars and two Philippine Liberation Battle Stars. Bill was employed at Dresser Clark for 38 years, retiring in 1988. An avid woodworker, he specialized in making clocks, gun cabinets and fine furniture. He was a member of the Allegany American Legion, Charles Harbel Post 892.
Surviving are five children, Michael (Beth) Ricci of Sarasota, Fla., Cindy (Richard) Tracy of Garner, N.C., Amy (David) Wood of Tunkhannock, Pa., John (Lisa) Ricci of Cuba, and Tina Baxter of Olean; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a grandson, David John Wood; and sisters, Pieruna Ricci, Alda "Tillie" Palumbo, and Angeline "Angie" Donovan.
At Bill's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be held in Allegany Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Guenther Funeral Home Inc., Olean.
