North East, Pa. - Lucy Northrup Baker, 87, lifetime resident of North East, died peacefully on Friday (May 23, 2014), at her daughter's residence in Olean, N.Y.

She was born Feb. 17, 1927, in Greenfield, to the late Gerry and Florence Sugden Northrup.
Lucy graduated North East High School, and was formerly employed at Welch Foods in North East for 25 years. She was a lifelong member of the Park United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd W. Baker (June 18, 2007); brothers, Willard, Donald and Melvin Northrup; and a sister, Lois Hettrick.
She is survived by her children, John W. (Barbara) Baker of Erie, Pa., Linda Baker of Olean, and Cindy Baker of Olean; a sister, Betty (Bob) Hoyt of North East; grandchildren, Christopher Baker and Susan Skelly; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 S. Lake St., North East. Friends are also invited to attend a funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday (May 28, 2014), at the funeral home. Officiating Rev. Dr. Mark Hecht. Interment North East Cemetery.
