OLEAN - David P. Weidt, of Olean, passed away Wednesday (May 28, 2014) at Olean General Hospital after a long illness.

Born on Aug. 9, 1954, in Olean, he was a son of the late Carlton and Barbara Kennan Weidt. On Oct. 16, 1976, in the St. Bonaventure Friary Chapel, he married the former Karen R. Wyviorka, who survives.
Dave was a graduate of Olean High School, class of 1972; and St. Bonaventure University, class of 1976. He became manager of Ried's Food Barn in Olean in 1977, retiring in 2012.
Dave was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church, a longtime member and past president of Bartlett Country Club, a member of the Men's Golf Association and a member of the Pulaski Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph P. Weidt of Syracuse; a sister, Lisa (Richard) Heller of Boonsboro, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Earl Weidt.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. Funeral services will be held Saturday (May 31, 2014), beginning with a prayer service in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Angels Church. The Rev. David Tourville will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
