OLEAN - Charles R. Ewings, of 350 Front St., Olean, passed away Wednesday (June 25, 2014) at Olean General Hospital.

Born Dec. 24, 1932, in Ridgway, Pa., he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ewings. In 1989, in Allegany, he married the former Ardith Vanocker, who passed away Nov. 1, 1998.
He attended Olean High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a mechanic most of his life at various businesses and a member of the VFW. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Ewings of Rockland County, George Ewings of Pine Bush and David (Kim) Ewings of Massapequa; four grandchildren, George, Nicole, Willie and Victoria; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith Outman of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E.State St., Olean. Mr. Ewings will then be transferred to the Leahy-McDonald Funeral Home 111-02 Atlantic Ave., Richmond Hill, Queens, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday (July 2, 2014) in the funeral home. The Rev. Paul Downing will officiate. Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton.
