MESQUITE, Texas - Joan Marie Beam Leavor, Mesquite, formerly of Franklinville, N.Y., died Sunday (Aug. 17, 2014) at the East Towne Nursing Home.

Born on June 12, 1921, in Mohawk, N.Y., she was a daughter of Harold and Ethel Riley Beam. On Dec. 28, 1944, in Upper Marlboro, Md., she married Frank Leavor, who died Aug. 14, 2004.
Mrs. Leavor served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was honorably discharged Dec. 20, 1945. She retired in 1982 from General Electric of Buffalo and then Westinghouse Electric of Cheektowaga.
She was a member of the Eastern Star Boneka Chapter 522 of Franklinville and a life member of Franklinville VFW Post 9487 Ladies Auxiliary. Joan enjoyed bingo and knitting in her spare time, along with reading and delivering for Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are two sons, Harold "Mick" (Christine) Leavor of Franklinville, N.Y., and James (Phyllis) Leavor of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two daughters, Mary Francine Eisensmith of Mesquite, Texas, and Donna (Fred) Rorick of Bel Air, Md.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald (Patricia) Beam of Hurst, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; two brothers, Herbert and Raymond Beam, both of Florida; and two sisters, Adamae Mancuso of Buffalo and Betty Smith of Mesquite.
Friends may gather with the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville, where her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 23, 2014). Celebrating her life will be the Rev. David Fisher, pastor at the Franklinville Free Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mount View Cemetery Veterans Field of Honor.
