ORCHARD PARK - Mr. Joseph Myers Sr., 94, died Wednesday (Aug. 27, 2014) at Absolut Care of Orchard Park.

Born on Feb.1, 1920, in Kill Buck, he was the son of the late Stephen and Anna Jankowski Myers. He was married on April 7, 1951, to the former Helen Brol, who survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 3209 ENGR FF CO in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Myers was employed as a foreman of the Cable Splicers with New York Telephone, East Aurora, prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the former BPO Elks Lodge No. 1025 in Salamanca and Telephone Pioneers Club, where he served as former president. He also served as an usher at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian, Fla. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are a son, Joseph ( Marjorie) Myers Jr. of White Pine, Tenn.; two daughters, Julia (John) Florea of Hamburg and Cynthia (Robert) Lockwood of Brewster; a daughter-in-law, Susan Myers of Pearland, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
He was predeceased by a son, Michael Myers; a brother, Stephen Myers; and a sister, Florence King.
There will be no visitation. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (Aug. 29, 2014) in Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Patrick Melfi, of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.
