BOLIVAR - Doris Stives, 76, of 73 Wellsville St., passed away Saturday (Dec. 15, 2012) shortly after admission to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, following a long illness.
She was born June 9, 1936, to Victor and Freda Buldoc Weimer in Hornsby, N.Y. On Jan. 26, 1957, she married Donald "Duck" Stives, who passed away Dec. 5, 2012. They were married for 55 years.
She was a mother and a homemaker, who worked a few jobs at some restaurants and at Hills Department Stores. She enjoyed sitting on the porch with her husband, listening to him tell her who everyone was.
She is survived by her children, Terry (Ann) Stives and Freda (Craig) Zeluf, both of Ogden, Utah, Diana Gordon of Bolivar, Donald Stives Jr. of Port Republic, Va., and Timothy (Connie) Stives of Williamsville; as well as two daughters-in-law, Cindy (Ken) Moore of Richburg and Kristy Stives of Charlottesville, Va.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Christopher (Renee) Stives, Jayson Barrett (raised by his grandparents), Michelle (Paul) Chambers, Jessica Floyd, Sena (Brian) Becton, Kira (Paul) Hayslett, Andy Robarts, Melody (Damien) Walsh, Matthew Stives, Travis (Amber) Stives, Devin Stives, Bryanna (Daniel) Shifflett, Anthony Stives, Kaitlyn Gordon, Brittany Gordon, Brooke Gordon and Jacob Stives; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Meril (Marilyn) Weimer of Maryland; three brothers-in-law, Harold (Junior) Carpenter of Millport, Roger (Debbie) Stives of Bolivar and William Stives of Wellsville; four sisters-in-law, Beverly Murray, Susan Stives and Valerie (Fred) Galbreath, all of Bolivar, and Darlene Millitello of California.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her two dogs, Gretchen and Rocky.
She was predeceased by her parents; two grandsons, Blair and Blaine Barrett; three brothers, Charles Stevens, Richard Stevens and Victor Weimer; as well as two sisters, Ida (Jackson) Stevens and Diana Carpenter; and her in-laws, Harold (Stub) and Catherine (Clark) Stives.
Friends may call on Tuesday (Dec. 18, 2012) at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc., Bolivar, from 4 to 7 p.m., at which time funeral and committal services will be held, with pastor Leslie Chambers of the West Clarksville Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar.
