OLEAN - Dorothy D. Weatherell, of 3148 Route 16N, died Monday (Dec. 31, 2012) at The Pines, Machias Campus, after a lengthy illness.
Born May 5, 1935, in Olean, she was a daughter of Lewis W. and Margaret Spears Struble. On Oct. 1, 1955, in Olean, she married Donald A. Weatherell, who predeceased her Dec. 25, 2002.
Mrs. Weatherell was a graduate of Olean High School, and, in addition to raising a family, worked for the former Servomation Co. for many years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church and the Guys and Gals Club of Hinsdale. She enjoyed bowling, loved sports of all kinds and was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. She also enjoyed crafting of all sorts and was formerly active with the Valley Craft Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane Weatherell of Olean and Doreen (Michael) Jennings of Arvada, Colo.; two sons, David Weatherell of Longmont, Colo. and Donald (Jennifer) Weatherell of Hattiesburg, Miss.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hartwig, Katherine Jennings, Owen Weatherell and Zachary Weatherell; one sister, Sandra Struble of Olean; one brother, Lewis (Jeanne) Struble of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road, Olean. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 5, 2013) at the funeral home. Rev. Richard Young, pastor of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
