AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Louis A. Fusco, 26, of Austintown, formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (Jan. 22, 2013) in Austintown.
Louis was born Nov. 19, 1986, in Jacksonville, N.C., a son of Christopher Fusco and Mary Gilroy Fusco. He attended Jamestown public schools until the end of his sophomore year of 2002. He graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 2004 and was a graduate of Youngstown State College.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 2004 and served the last eight years with the 76th Aerial Port Squadron, 910th AW Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna as an air transportation specialist qualified rigger. During his time of service, he served in Afghanistan and Qatar.
While living in Jamestown, he attended Holy Apostles Parish at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was also active in the Jamestown Boys and Girls Club, the Jamestown Y.M.C.A. and the JAYS soccer program. He played midget football for the Southside Blue Devils. He also played basketball for Jamestown High School during his freshman and sophomore years.
Surviving are his mother, Mary Gilroy Fusco of Jamestown; his father and stepmother, Christopher and Denise Fusco of Canfield; a sister, Angelina Fusco of Austintown; a stepsister, Jessica Broll of Youngstown; a stepbrother, Michael Broll of Youngstown; his maternal grandparents, Joyce Gilroy of Olean, N.Y., and Dr. William (Trudy) Gilroy of Cuba, N.Y.; his paternal grandparents, Francis and Janet Fusco of Austintown; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two cousins, Michael Parks, on Aug. 7, 2000, and Brittany Malone, on Jan. 12, 2013.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Apostles Parish at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 508 Cherry St., Jamestown. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish, will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home, 805 W. Third St., Jamestown, where a Christian wake service will be led at 3:45 p.m. Sunday.
