MACHIAS - Eugene R. Very, 92, of Very Road, passed away Thursday (Feb. 28, 2013) at his residence.
Born April 19, 1920, in Machias, he was a son of Vern Deland and Mary C. Groff Very. On June 1, 1948, he married Rose Helit Very, who predeceased him June 12, 2001.
Mr. Very owned and operated his own farm. He also was a private residential electrician for 50 years and a farm seed salesman for Hoffman Farm Seeds in Pennsylvania for 30 years.
He was involved in Machias town politics for 25 years, having served as a councilman and one term as a town supervisor. He was a life member of the Ayrshire Cattle Association.
Mr. Very is survived by a daughter, Margaret (Robert) Jefferds of Cuba; a son, Kevin (Dorothy) Very of Machias; three grandchildren, Katie, Michael and Courtney; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother and a sister.
There will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, West Valley.
