BLACK CREEK - Anna M. Milliken, 91, of 8252 Spring Valley Road, passed away Tuesday (April 02, 2013) at Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Born on July 14, 1921, in Olean, she was a daughter of Edward Arlie Connor Mullen. On July 3, 1942, in Cuba, she married Francis T. Milliken, who predeceased her March 29, 1983.
Mrs. Milliken worked for several years at Acme Electric Corp. of Cuba before going to work as a nurse's aide for Cuba Memorial Hospital. She was a natural-born caregiver that showed endless empathy for those in need. She truly enjoyed her job.
She enjoyed crocheting, had a creative artistic ability and was an avid walker. Spending time with her grandchildren was very important, and for that she devoted her life to caring for family and friends in need and was always first to help those in need.
Anna was a former member of the Black Creek Sunshine Club and New Hudson Firemen's Auxiliary.
Surviving are a son, Joseph (Brenda) Milliken of Georgia; two daughters, Beverly (Chester) Bialy of Black Creek and Cheryl (Michael L.) Plescia of Whitesboro; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Clark and Yvonne Milliken; a brother-in-law, Jack Milliken; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by three brothers, Charles Mullen, Francis Mullen and John Mullen; two sisters, Ida Martino and Mary Mullen, who died in infancy; and a sister-in-law, Nellie Mullen.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service Inc., 9 Bull St., Cuba. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today (April 5, 2013) at Our Lady of Angels of Church, 50 South St., Cuba. The Rev. Sean E. DiMaria will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba.
