RIXFORD, Pa. - Albert D. Jennings Jr., 91, of Rixford, passed away Friday (July 19, 2013) following a short illness.

Born on July 19, 1922, in Endicott to the late Albert D. and Hazel Rova Jennings, Albert married Meda Smith on Dec. 18, 1946, in Angelica, N.Y. They celebrated their 66th anniversary last December.
He graduated from Bradford High School in 1940. He resided in Montoursville and Allegany, N.Y., before moving to Rixford in 1971.
Mr. Jennings was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946 as a flight engineer and navigator on a B-26 Marauder. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and North Africa, he received the WWII Victory Medal, the Army of the Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Prior to joining the military he worked for Lycoming Motors in Williamsport. After the military he, along with his wife, owned and operated a dairy farm in Montoursville for eight years. He later operated a tractor-trailer dealership and repair shop in Allegany for 10 years. He was then employed as a heavy-equipment mechanic for Dow Equipment in Olean, N.Y., for many years before retiring in 1982.
Albert attended the Lighthouse Community Free Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Otto Township Fire Department and was a founding member of the Little Nippers. He was also a member of the Smethport American Legion Bucktail Post 138 and the Smethport VFW Post 2497.
He enjoyed farming, diesel mechanics, boating, hunting and fishing. He was known by all as a wonderful storyteller; a master mechanic; and loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Meda, Al is survived by three sons, Donald of New Albany, Ind., Michael (Cheryl) of Olean and William of San Antonio; one daughter, Linda Jennings of Duke Center; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Levi Patrick Jennings, in 2007; and three brothers, Clarence "Tiny", Richard and John Jennings.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (July 23, 2013) with the Rev. Beth Rossler and the Rev. Glen Hamilton co-officiating. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery, Allegany.
Full military honors will be presented by the Smethport American Legion Bucktail Post 138 on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Otto Township Fire Department or to the Lighthouse Community Free Methodist Church.
