MACHIAS - Marion F. Brooks, of Gulf Hill Road, died Sunday (Aug. 19, 2018) at Olean General Hospital, following a short illness.
Born Nov. 27, 1930, in Ashford, she was the daughter of James and Frances Schultz Reynolds. On May 9, 1950, in Great Valley, she married Jay A. Brooks Sr., who died Mar. 6, 1996.

Mrs. Brooks attended St. John the Baptist School in West Valley and graduated from Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, Class of 1948.

She enjoyed embroidery, making many family heirlooms.

She served as past president of the Machias Fire Dept. Auxiliary; worked blood drives for the American Red Cross; volunteered to help with the election boards; a member of St. Philomena's R. C. Church in Franklinville.

Surviving is a son, Jay A. (Vicky) Brooks Jr. of Machias; four daughters, K. Sue (Roger) Green, Vickie Popson and Lorie (Stephen) Miller, all of Machias and Rebecca (Ted) Price of Great Valley; a special granddaughter, Melissa (Michael) Sullivan of Franklinville, 25 other grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Gloria) Reynolds of Sandusky and James (Marsha) Reynolds of Machias; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sons, Steven (Carole) Brooks and Johnny Brooks; a brother, Richard (Marilyn) Reynolds; two sisters, Doris (Jay) Ring and Ruth (Richard) Spencer.

Friends may gather with the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 23, 2018) in St. Philomena R.C. Church, 26 Plymouth Ave., Franklinville. Co-celebrants will be the Rev. David Tourville and the Rev. Michael O'Hara. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Machias.
