I was fortunate to meet Fred when we worked together at the Westroads. He very patiently taught me about customer service and selling shoes. As others have noted, he was a true gentleman and great friend. He introduced my wife and me to Anita who is a perfect match to this fine man and good friend. Our deep condolences to Anita and family.

My deepest sympathy to the Gibson family. Fred was a real gentleman with a great smile. I hadn't seen him for a while but enjoyed it when I'd run into him while he was working at Penneys. Your daughter,Connee, and I were best friends when we went to Benson High School. Please tell her I'd love to hear from her. God bless you all, Gibson family.

Anita and family: My late husband Cliff Shoemaker played bass with Buddy Graves at the Touch for over 10 years and we became very fond of Fred. I always thought of him as a truly gentle man and a true gentleman. He will be missed. You have my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy.

To the beloved Gibson family I have known for 67years.My Mom took a giant step up when we moved in the Logan Fontnelle projects in 1945.In those humble beginings I met the greatand gregarious Fred Gibson. He always had a friendly smile and a very sharp mind.He was not only a great athlete but blessed with a brilliant mind.I always admired him and privately called him my big brother.Another attribute he had was his consistent behavior toward other people. He would have made on outstanding College Professor because he knew a lot about everything.I will miss this giant so much I am certain he is with his darling Mother looking down on us.May God continue to bless the Gibson family.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Gibson passing. He will always be remembered. Our family's go back many years. His mother lived across the street from us 42 yrs ago on Burdette St. How kind a lady she was. And Mr. Gibson always had a smile when we would meet up at JC Penneys always helpful. Rest in Peace. Rom. 6:23. Your debt as been paid.
