Ruth Esther Craft Biba was born on October 24, 1929 to Vernon and Esther (Holmes) Craft on a farm in Pierce County, Nebraska. She was delivered by her grandfather, Dr. William Craft. She passed away on November 10, 2012 in Geneva, Nebraska after a long and fulfilling life. Ruth grew up on a farm near Foster, Nebraska. She attended country school for eight years and graduated from Plainview High School in 1947. She attended Norfolk Junior College and then graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics in 1951. After graduating, Ruth served as the Sheridan County Home Extension Agent. She enjoyed working with 4-H kids, especially at fairs and camps. In 1953, Ruth married James A. Biba of Geneva, Nebraska. They welcomed five children into their family, David, Debra, Gary, Gregg and Linda. Ruth worked alongside her husband in the family highway construction business. Their work afforded many opportunities to travel the state and to reside in a number of Nebraska communities. Ruth enjoyed meeting new people and especially appreciated getting to know the families of the people with whom they worked. In later years, Ruth and Jim enjoyed traveling for pleasure throughout the United States and to Europe and the Far East. Ruth was a 50-year member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Geneva. She was active in the Women's Fellowship, taught Sunday School, and served on numerous committees. She was also a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth was preceded in death by her son, David; and her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim, of 59 years and children, Susan, Geneva; Debra and Rob, Cambridge, MA; Gary and Margo, Austin, TX; Gregg and Paul, Dallas, TX; Linda and Todd, Lincoln; and grandchildren, Matthew, Catherine, Brandon and Brittni, Amanda and Landon. She is also survived by her brother Robert Craft, Norfolk. VISITATION will be held at Farmer & Son Funeral Home on November 13 from 1-8pm at 242 N. 10th Street, Geneva. Family will be greeting visitors from 4-6pm. Private family burial.
