Captain William "Bill" Oliver Mains, US Army, died September 25, 2013, at the age of 99. Bill served his country in WWII, stationed at King Cove, Cold Bay, AK. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad, was a member of Masonic Lodge 288, and was an avid tennis player, continuing to play into his nineties. Bill is survived by his children, Harold, Alfred, Richard, Laurel, and Alice Luciano; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lois Wheeler; daughter, Anita Huelle; granddaughter, Ronda Sloat; and great-granddaughter, Aleah.
Peggy Ann Cochran Mains followed Bill shortly in death, passing suddenly on October 13, 2013, at the age of 77. She was of the Scottish clan Cochran. Bill and Peggy had been married 47 years. Peggy was born and raised in Omaha. She was very creative. Peggy loved the Lord and was very involved in her church. Peggy is survived by her children, Leeann Atkins and Alice Luciano; and 3 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; and her brother, Marshall Cochran.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE to honor both Bill and Peggy will be held Saturday, November 9th at 11am at Lifegate Church, 156th and Dodge, Omaha. Luncheon to follow for family and friends. CHAPEL OF MEMORIES
