Predeceased by parents, C. Morlyn and Lucile Combs. Survived by daughter, Cynthia Podesta; grandson, Collin; brother, Richard (Virginia); nieces, Susan Matta, and Linda Combs; and a great-nephew. Carol graduated from Central High School; Bradford Jr. College in Massachusetts; and Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She was a princess in the 1956 Aksarben court. Carol was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and P.E.O. Omaha Chapter CV. She was a lifelong Bible student, an avid tennis player and fan, a world traveler, and a membership volunteer for the Henry Doorly Zoo. Carol was instrumental in funding the Omaha Home for Boys Combs Learning Center, in memory of her grandfather, Tinley L. Combs, who was a founder and the first president of the Home.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 11am at Westlawn Hillcrest Funeral Home, with a luncheon to follow. Memorials may be sent to: Kappa Alpha Theta Omaha Scholarship Fund, CASA, P.E.O Projects; the Henry Doorly Zoo and Scott Aquarium; the Omaha Home for Boys; as well as charities of the donor's choice.
