Age 87

Long-time Council Bluffs Funeral Director, passed away February 25, 2013. Don served in the US Army during WWII and moved to Council Bluffs in 1946 and served as a Funeral Director for over 62 years, retiring in 2008 from Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. He is preceded in death by wife Marianne (Seegers) in 1985; wife Ilene (Breck) Smith in 2000; sister Shirley Bond 1998; brothers, Bill Purdy in 2001; and Don Schwerdt in 2003. Don is survived by son Mark D. Purdy and wife Michelle, Estes Park, Colorado; granddaughter Kellsie Marianne Purdy and grandson Noah James Purdy also of Estes Park; god-daughter Courtney McPartland, Kansas City, MO; sisters, Helen (Philip) Sopocko, Diamond Bar, CA; Jeanette (Rex) Leanhart, Des Moines, IA; nieces and nephews.
VISITATION Thursday 6-8pm at Funeral Home. FUNERAL SERVICES Friday 11am Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery with military rites. Luncheon will follow at the community room at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park. Memorials are suggested to Our Savior's Lutheran and Optimist Foundation of Council Bluffs.
