O'Neill, Thomas J.
Scottsdale, AZ. Died peacefully on Veteran's Day evening, November 11, 2012 at the Windmill (his summer home) in Waterloo, NE. The son of Leo and Lena (Traversy) O'Neill, Tom was born in Dubuque, IA on March 6, 1920, graduated Senior High School and attended Loras College. During World War II
, he served as a B-17 pilot (2nd Lieutenant, Army Air Corps). Tom married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jane Kean, on December 23, 1942. They first lived in Dubuque, then resided in Omaha, NE for 17 years, and moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1969. Tom was preceded in death by Betty Jane O'Neill (November 12, 2003) after 61 years of marriage. Tom is survived by his four children, Thomas Michael O'Neill (Phoenix, AZ), Pat (Gary) Sauerman (Scottsdale), Mary Ellen (John) Furstenberg (Omaha), and James Brian (Alexandra) O'Neill (Encinitas, CA); and by his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
VISITATION for family and friends 5:30-7pm, with a WAKE SERVICE at 7pm, Sunday, November 18, 2012, Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale. FUNERAL MASS 10am Monday, November 19, at St. Patrick's Church, 10815 N. 84th St., Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 38 W.
