Nathan LaFave Obituary
Age 15
Omaha NE. Died Friday, October 11, 2013. A sophomore at Mount Michael High School, Nate was a member of the Cross Country and Soccer teams. An accomplished student, his future ambitions were to become a Navy SEAL and then a teacher. He loved music and played guitar. Nate enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman. A loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend; he was preceded in death by grandfather Bob Sylvester. Survived by his parents, Dave Jr. and Beth LaFave; brothers, Nick and Chris LaFave; grandparents, Dave Sr. and Liz LaFave; grandmother Barb Sylvester of York, NE; aunts; uncles; cousins; and countless friends.
MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 10am Wednesday at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 16701 'S' St., Omaha. VISITATION with the family Tuesday 5:30-7:30pm, with WAKE SERVICE at 7:30pm at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church. Interment, Mount Michael in Elkhorn, NE. The family has asked that Memorials be sent to: the Nate LaFave Memorial Fund at Mount Michael High School and Abbey. BRAMAN MORTUARY

Dear LaFave family,
We have been praying for your family in our home and with our Parish family @ St Stephen the Martyr. Today at Mass we lifted you again in prayer (& heard prayer request for you today on Catholic Radio 102.7 this morning).
At Mass something a priest told our family after my own brother-in-law (Creighton Prep student) was killed in a traffic accident at 18 came to mind during the Responsorial Psalm. He said, "We would all like Heaven to look more like a senior citizen home" (ie after a long full life on earth, we'd get to go to Heaven), "but God is not like that. He loves people of all ages, babies, children, teens, adults, and seniors." I've never forgotten that...and today Psalm 143 said "His is a Kingdom of all ages." After hearing about your amazing son, it's no wonder God would want him with Him. Now your son lives to intercede for us. Thank you Saint Nathan! Save us a seat at Jesus' feet! And tell my brother-in-law, Mike, "Hello!"

I can' t go one more day without expressing my deep condolences and sympathy to you and your entire family. You don't know me at all and that doesn't matter. What matters is that Nate's short life on this earth has touched so many people. I don't have children and I sometimes thank God for that because I can't imagine how I would handle your situation. Please know Nate was an Angel on this Earth and is a sparkling Angel in Heaven. Only God knows why he needed him right now. It appears you have raised an excellent son. One day this all might make sense. Until then, know he is in your heart forever. I am SO sorry for your loss! Keep his memory strong and be proud of who you have raised and his impact on this community. God Bless all of you!

My daughter knew of Nate from friends, and said she had never met him but had always heard many good things about him. From all I have heard and read, Nate was truly a beautiful, inspirational soul. All the young men at the Mount are remarkable but the sad, sad thing now is that one of these GREAT kids is missing.While working the Fall Festival last month I ran into Nate I was coming out a door with my hands full and Nate ran over to hold the door for me and after I had thank him Nate looked at me and said Your Welcome Sir... We fondly remember our boys playing little league baseball together at KWAA. We enjoyed getting to know your family very much. Nate was a bright light and a great kid.
