Omaha. Esther Honey Peterson passed away on August 18, 2013 with her knitting needles in her hands. She was proud to have been born into the Honey Family of Sutton, Nebraska on December 9, 1918. Esther loved time with her family, traveling with her late husband, Garth Peterson, "the Cruise King", teaching third graders at St. James-Seaton School and her knitting and crocheting. She has knitted sweaters for oil-soaked penguins, hats for babies and cancer patients, blankets for the Humane Society and enough dishrags to cover the state of Nebraska. Mention the word "trip", and Esther was packed and out the door. For the past eleven years, Esther has divided her time between Omaha and Phoenix, AZ. She will be remembered by many all over the world for her wonderful smile and her ability to make friends wherever she went. Esther is survived by her son, Eric Peterson (Connie) and his children Brander (Lindsey) and Callie; her daughter Garthanne deOcampo (Eddy) and their children Pablo (Leslie) and Gabriella (Richie); as well as by her seven great-grandchildren.
