John "Jack" Smith faded away peacefully on November 6, 2012. He was born in Omaha to Faye and Helen Smith on January 10, 1929. He was raised in Omaha but, as a teenager, spent some time in Hollywood, CA. He returned to Omaha and graduated from Central High in 1947. He attended Iowa State and met the love of his life, Judy James. They married in 1949. Jack started his career as a draftsman and later became a licensed Civil Engineer and a real estate appraiser. A past president of the Omaha Business Men's Association, Jack was proud to ring the bell for the OBMA's Salvation Army Kettle program. Jack also enjoyed skiing and sailing. Preceded in death by wife, Judy Smith; and daughter, Peggy Stalzer. Survived by daughter, Jodi C. Rojo (Gil), Thornton, CO; son, Brian Smith (Debbie), Fairfield, IA; grandchildren, Anthony John Stalzer, Minnesota, Tami Waddell, Firth, NE; 6 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter.
