Fremont, NE. Died peacefully with hospice care surrounded by his family and dog, Bud, on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. Ralph was born March 22, 1939 in Westphalia, Iowa to Ray and Marie (Schechinger) Lickteig. He grew up in Westphalia and was a 1957 graduate of St. Boniface High School in Westphalia. He lived in Omaha and moved to Fremont in 1973 and was employed in the warehouse at Fruehauf in Omaha. Ralph married Nancy E. Scott on July 24, 1973 in Fremont. Nancy died August 10, 2012. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont and an over 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus of Earling, Iowa. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #200 of Fremont. He enjoyed playing cards, sporting events and the K C Royals. He had a love for animals and wildlife sightseeing. He is survived by sons, David Lickteig and fiancee, Amber Ross, Fremont, and Scott and wife, Stacy Lickteig, Omaha; brother, Ed and wife, Cathy Lickteig, Tulsa, OK; 2 sisters, Thelma and husband, Erv Pauley, Denison, IA, and Therese and husband, Urbie Henscheid, Westphalia, IA; 4 grandchildren, Zachary, Madelyn, Joshua, and David Jr.; sister-in-law, Virginia Lickteig, Denison, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Marie; step-mother, Ada; wife, Nancy; brother, Cletus; and sister, Sr. Raymarie Lickteig.
FUNERAL MASS 10:30am Friday, November 2, St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Father David Belt will officiate. Vigil Service 7:45pm Thursday at the funeral home. VISITATION 6-8pm Thursday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. VISITATION Friday at church 1 hour prior to service. Burial will be 1:30pm Friday at the Woodland Cemetery in North Bend, NE.
