Smith, Richard A.
Omaha, NE. Richard was born on January 18, 1947 in Lincoln, NE, and passed away peacefully on July 9, 2013 at the VA hospital in Omaha after battling cancer. Richard was a business owner of RAS Aviation and a longtime member of the Nebraska Business Aviation Association. He learned to fly on October 21, 1961, when he took his first flying lesson, and he continued to teach many pilots as a Certified Flight Instructor. He had a real passion for flying and teaching and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and JoAnn Smith. He is survived by his siblings, Patricia Smith of Ogallala, NE, John Smith of Rapid City, SD, Paul Smith of Omaha, and Laura Miller of Silver City, IA.
