Dr. Roger B. Fransecky, age 72, passed from this life at his home on July 5, 2013 in Omaha after his life was abruptly interrupted by cancer. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Foreman Fransecky, who died earlier, in August of 2008. Dr. Fransecky leaves behind 2 step-sons, Jeffrey Connell, San Diego, CA, and William Connell and his wife Sara, Chicago, IL; and 1 grandson Finnean Connell. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Virelle Kidder and her husband Dr. Steven Kidder, Sebastian, FL; plus many nephews and nieces who deeply admired and loved him. Dr. Fransecky was a licensed Clinical Psychologist. Those who knew Roger best found him an intimate and witty friend, a brilliant problem solver, a great listener, and a remarkably insightful person. He treated everyone he met with courtesy, kindness, and deep interest.
A native New Yorker, Dr. Fransecky was the eldest child of Russell A. Fransecky and Virginia B. Fransecky. From earliest childhood, he was highly creative and an avid reader, who later became a devoted student of theater and television. He began his education at the University of New York at Oswego, completing his B.S. and M.S. degrees prior to teaching in Pulaski and Rochester, NY. He furthered his academic career by completing his Ph.D. at the University of Cincinnati, serving as a professor at University of Rochester, University of Cincinnati, and New York University, where he directed NYU's Video Management and Technology Program. In 1995, Dr. Fransecky founded his company, the Apogee Group, serving chief executives and business leaders worldwide. As one of the nation's leading executive coaches and CEO advisors, he was uniquely gifted in negotiating organizational change and vision casting. Those who worked with him found his influence life changing. Dr. Fransecky served as Senior Advisor to the World 50 Executive Group, a global leadership forum serving C-level executives, and was Clinical Professor of Leadership, and a member of the Dean's Advisory Board at Creighton University College of Business Administration, as well as a regular contributor to The Huffington Post. He also served as Director of Professional Services for CSPP, America's largest independent Graduate School training professional Psychologists, as President of CEL Educational Resources, and Senior Vice President of both Home Box Office/Time Inc., and Westinghouse Broadcasting and Cable. He also served as Chairman/CEO of Family Partners, Inc., and the National Television Workshop.
