Scottsdale, AZ. Passed away on May 9, 2013 surrounded by his family. Born to Aaron and Bess Ostrovsky in Wakaw, Saskatchewan on August 12, 1922, Syd grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Syd was a veteran of WWII. He belonged to the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Royal Air Force and served as a tail gunner. He flew 72 missions and was decorated by King George VI of England. He then went on to fight in the Israeli War of Independence in 1948. He moved to the USA and settled in Omaha, NE after marrying his lifemate, Regina. He became a successful businessman while owning a Weight Watchers franchise in Nebraska and Iowa. They later moved to Scottsdale, AZ, where they were living at the time of his passing. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann; and brothers, Max and Bob, of Canada. He is survived by his wife, Gigi; his sister, Esther (Don) Loeb, Kansas City, MO; sister, Minnie (Harvey) Emas; brother, Allen Osten, both of Canada; sons, Victor (Bella) Ostrovsky and Michael Osten; step-children, Jonathan Brown, Deborah (Robert) Billow, Nancy Brown; and grandchildren, Sharone (Dave) Ross, Leeorah (Jeff) Pearce, Leigh-Anne Brown, Lauren (Kelson) Jorgenson, Jamie (Rinat) Billow, Rachel Billow and Melanie (Daniel) Steindler; great-grandchildren, Lilah and Cyrus Ross and Jacob Pearce.
