Mancuso, Lisa (Jones)* - Inverness  
INVERNESS, FLA. > > There is another new angel in Heaven today. Lisa Mancuso, 43, passed away surrounded by her loving family at The Hospice House of Citrus County on Jan. 16, 2015. She fought a courageous 39-month battle with a very rare form of cancer called NETS (neuro endocrine tumors.) Lisa was born Jan. 2, 1972, in Wyandotte, Mich., the daughter of Larry and the late Sandra Jones. Lisa graduated from Lecanto High School in 1990, and later Central Florida Community College with an associate's degree in the arts. She then went to UCF and finished her degree at Nova University. Lisa then received certification and a degree in Exceptionality Special Education and ESL in 2001. While attending school, Lisa worked full time as a data secretary and then a teaching assistant. Upon her graduation, she was immediately offered her dream job as a full-time teacher at CREST School in Lecanto, Fla. Lisa married the love of her life, Michael Mancuso on Nov. 21, 2009. Surviving Lisa are her husband, Michael; her father, Larry Jones and his spouse Diane; one brother, David Jones and his spouse Michelle; a nephew, Darren Jones; a niece, Kristen (Taylor) Cody; and a grandniece Aubrie Cody, all of Inverness, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by her very best friend, Mellannie Forester; and in-laws John and Joan Mancuso of New York and Florida. A Requiem Eucharist will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 114 N. Osceola Ave., Inverness, Fla. Lisa's family would like to thank the staff at The Hospice House of Citrus County and Nature Coast for their warm and loving care; also a huge thank you to Dr. George Daneker and his brilliant team from Cancer Treatment Center in Newnan, Ga., for giving Lisa these "extra" two years of life; and Dr. James Cleary and his brilliant team from Dana Farber and Brigham and Women's Hospitals in Boston, who worked so diligently trying to find clinical trials appropriate for the treatment of NETS cancer, and her local oncologist, Dr. William Harrer and his staff for bridging the logistical gap when Lisa needed it. BLOSSVALE > > Scott W. Parsons, 52, Powell Road, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Canastota on May 18, 1962, he was a son of Herbert J. ""Bert"" and Joanne Manaseri Parsons. He was a graduate of Canastota High School and later attended University of Buffalo, University of Rhode Island, and Morrisville State College. Scott married Becki Murwin in Sylvan Beach on June 3, 2000. Mr. Parsons was employed with Iron Mountain, Turning Stone Casino, and Campany Roofing. Surviving, besides his wife, are his mother, Joanne Murphy of Oneida Castle; a daughter, Dianne M. Cole and her companion, Bruce Galler of Henry, Tenn.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jacob D. Parsons of Blossvale, and Joshua A. and Ann Marie Mushak of Vernon; a sister and brother-in-law, Victoria ""Vicki"" and Robert C. Adams of Sherrill; a brother, Brad T. Parsons of Brooklyn; and five grandchildren, Christeina, Amedeo, Jewel, Jolainna, and Blake. Calling hours will be 3-6 p.m., Thursday, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 S. Sanders, Donald P.* - Oneida  
ONEIDA > > Donald P. Sanders, 55, Phillips Street, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, in St. Luke's Hospital, New Hartford, where he had been a medical patient for the past two days. Born in Ilion, on Jan. 5, 1960, he was a son of Donald and Marie Mazza Sanders. A resident of Oneida for over 25 years, Don was a graduate of Frankfort High School, Mohawk Valley Community College, Corning Community College, and Empire State College. He served with the New York State National Guard. He married Margaret Thurston in Kensington, Md. in July of 1989. At the time of his death, Donald was employed with the New York State DDSO. Previously he was a deputy sheriff for Herkimer County, a police officer for the villages of Cazenovia and Mohawk, a private investigator for over 30 years, a fire investigator, a deputy with the US Department of Justice and for ten years served as a family care provider with people that have developmental disabilities. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints, Oneida, served on the Oneida City and Oneida County Democratic Committees and was a member of the Canastota Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; his stepson and his wife and family, Jonathan and Amy Ryan and their children Gavin, Keagan and Samuel, all of Sherburne; a nephew who they raised as their own, Theodore Nicholson of Oneida; his mother and step father, Marie and Dominick Oriolo, and a brother and sister-in-law and their family, David and Sheila Sanders, and Davina Sanders and Frank Sanders, all of Frankfort. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday from the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints, Oneida with Micah Colbert, officiating. Interment will be made in Stockbridge Cemetery on Monday. Friends may call at the church, 1-3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Contributions may be made to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints, Oneida. Suits, Thirza W.* - Morrisville  
MORRISVILLE > > Thirza W. Suits, 97, formerly of West Main Street, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at the Katherine Luther Home in Clinton, N.Y. She was born April 7, 1917 in West Eaton, a daughter of Walter and Amy Fletcher Westcott. She was a graduate of Oneida High School in 1935 and the Cortland Normal School in 1938. On Oct. 22, 1938, Thirza married Jerome Suits in Morrisville. He predeceased her in June 1981. A lifelong resident of the Morrisville and Eaton area, Thirza was a homemaker who spent her life caring for her family that she loved so dearly. She had also worked in the SUNY Morrisville book store for 10 years. Thirza was a member of the Morrisville Community Church where she was a member of the Presbyterian Women and the Hope of Faith Circle. She had been a Girl Scout leader and trainer at the Foothills Council for 30 years. She was a former member and Past Noble Grand of the Willow Glen Rebekah Lodge No. 158, and a Past District Deputy of the Madison County District from 1989-91; a former member of the West Eaton Home Bureau; and a former member of the American Legion Post No. 163 Auxiliary in Morrisville. She had also been active with Camp Farther Out (CFO) and the Parker Peak Day Camp, W.V. Surviving are her children, William and Linda Suits of Inwood, Va.; Amy and Robert Wilkinson, JoAnn and David Holbert, all of Morrisville; a brother, Douglas Westcott of Morrisville; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Suits; two sisters, Mary DeLand and Laura Rowland, two brothers, Leon and Robert Westcott. Memorial services will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Interment will be private in the Eaton Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Morrisville Community Church; the American Cancer Society; or the Morrisville Fire Department. ONEIDA > > Joshua James Thomas, 32, Maple Street, reached the end of his journey on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at his home, with his loving family at his side. Born in Oneida, on March 30, 1982, he was a son of Daniel and Kelly Gilmore Thomas. Josh was a graduate, with high honors, from Oneida High School, Class of 2001. Joshua spent his life touching the hearts of all he met, with a twinkle in his eye and a smile that brightened even the darkest day; his love and strength will live on through the beautiful memory of him. Surviving are his mother, Kelly Gilmore Walker and his step-father, Gary Walker; his father, Daniel Thomas; his wonderful and loving brother, Joseph Thomas and fiancé, Chea Eastman, whom Joshua dearly loved; his special family members that were his caretakers, Kim Turk, Joycelyn Mowers, Angelica Emmons, Jessica Johnson, Dawn Hurlbert and Tyann Richer, whom he dearly loved; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his youngest brother, Steven Thomas, who passed away in 1991. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m., Monday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida and 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Tucker, Margaret P.* - Manlius  
MANLIUS > > Margaret P. Tucker, 85, of Flume Road, Manlius, formerly of North Street, Oneida, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, in St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. Margaret was born on Aug. 7, 1929, in Oneida, a daughter of Harry and Gertrude Besenfelder Pflieger. She was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1947, and received her RN license from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Class of 1950. On Oct. 16, 1957, Margaret was united in marriage to Alfred C. Tucker in St. Francis Church, Durhamville. Mr. Tucker passed away on June 11, 1991. Margaret was a registered nurse at Dr. John D. George III's office in Verona for 40 years, retiring in 2010. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, knitting, reading, but most importantly, spending time with her beloved family. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Kevin Cashel of Canastota; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Sabrina Tucker of Chittenango; four grandchildren, Kyle Cashel, Kory Cashel, Michael Tucker, and Daniel Tucker; a special niece, Carol (James) Sheldon of Skaneateles; a nephew, Frank Pinkosky of Sayre, Pa.; and special nieces and nephews whom she considered grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by a grandson, Kristopher Cashel, and a sister, Barbara Pinkosky. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. with a prayer service from the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael J. Carmola. Interment will take place in St. Helena's Cemetery in the spring. Friends are invited and may call Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida.
