CANASTOTA - Iva Snyder, 95, of 400 Lamb Ave. passed away Saturday at the Oneida Extended Care Facility.
Iva was born June 18, 1917 in Rutland, N.Y., the daughter of James and Mabel O'Brien. She had been a resident of the Canastota area since 1959. Prior to retirement she was employed as a home health aide for Stoneleigh Housing and was a bar maid for many years at the former Cloverleaf Hotel and Seneca Restaurant and several other establishments in the Chittenango and Canastota area. She was a member of the VFW
in Lowville, the American Legion in Oneida and the Durhamville Vet's Club.
Surviving are her sons, Earl Der and Gerald (Gladys) Der, all of Lowville, and Donald Der of Wisconsin; her daughter, Sharon Brown of Canastota; a sister, Mary DeShaw of Canastota; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, David Der.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. A calling hour will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, there will be a celebration of Iva's life from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Bridgeport VFW, Route 31, Bridgeport.
