ONEIDA >> Joseph F. Bova, 68, Towers II, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 in the Veterans
Administration Medical Center, Syracuse where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.
Born in Oneida on Sept. 7, 1945, he was a son of Joseph and Josephine Catalano Bova. A lifelong resident of Oneida, he was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1965.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Oneida Limited Silversmiths where he held various positions. Mr. Bova was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He was a life member of both the National Rifle Association and the Rifle and Pistol Association of Central New York, and a member of the New York State Draft Horse Club. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman and had a small gentleman's farm with a special love of horses.
Joseph was a veteran of the United States Navy
, faithfully serving his country from 1969-1971, during the Vietnam War
Surviving are: a sister-in-law, Marilyn Bova Turnbole and her husband, John of Verona Beach; one nephew, Joal Bova of Troy; three nieces, Lynn-Marie Pauly of Troy, Christina Geiger and Carin Bova, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; two great nephews, Joshua and Nathan Pauly; one great niece, Ava Geiger and several friends, especially, Russell Cary, Gary Voelker and Richard Chapin. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Patrick Bova.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida and 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church, where the funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Kapral, pastor. Interment, with full military honors, will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-6 p.m. Sunday.
