Leslie S. Loomis(1940 - 2014)

WHITELAW >> Leslie S. Loomis, 73, of Canastota (Whitelaw), died on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Oneida Healthcare following a lengthy illness.
He was born on Nov. 6, 1940, in Whitelaw, a son of Leon and Bertha Kilts Loomis.
Leslie lived in the Whitelaw area all of his life, attending the Whitelaw and Peterboro Street schools.
He was a self-employed dairy and crop farmer in Whitelaw most of his life.
Leslie loved the outdoors, and enjoyed collecting and shooting guns, hunting, fishing, and building and using computers.
He was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association.
Leslie married Arlene M. Hart on Jan. 19, 1963, in Oneida.
Surviving besides his wife, Arlene, are: one son, Leslie J. Loomis of Canastota; two daughters, V. Jean Loomis, and June A. Funari, both of Canastota; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert Loomis and Carol Sidoran of Eatonbrook; one sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Raymond Frank of Peterboro; four grandchildren, Lucretia May Funari, Mack J. Funari, Mickelle Lee Funari, and Vanessa Ann Loomis; one great-granddaughter, Kenzlie Mickelle Robinson; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Leslie was predeceased by a brother, Merle Loomis, who died in 2010.
At Leslie's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. In his memory, contributions may be made to GLAS (Greater Lenox Ambulance Service), P.O.
