Mary P. Seibel(1920 - 2014)

BLOSSVALE >> Mary P. Seibel, 93, Cook Road, died Thursday evening, March 13, 2014, in the Extended Care Facility of the Oneida Healthcare Center, where she had been a resident for the past nine years.
Born in Glenmore, on April 10, 1920, she was a daughter of Leon and Philomena (Bartlewski) Prusinowski.
A lifelong resident of the area, Mary was educated in Glenmore schools. Her first husband, John Halukiewicz died in January of 1963. She later married Kenneth G. Seibel in Lakeport on June 13, 1979.
Prior to her retirement in 1983, with 32 years of service, Mrs. Seibel was employed with Oneida Limited Silversmiths. She was a communicant of St. John's Church, North Bay and St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Verona Beach and a member of the Women's Christian Group, the Oneida Limited Retirement Club and the American Legion Auxiliary, Meeker-O'Rourke Post 1309.
Surviving besides her husband, Kenneth, are two daughters and their husbands, Ann and David Hopkins of Blossvale and Mary and James Hofmann of Trumbull, Conn.; two sons and their wives, Dr. James "Butch" and Meredithe Shields of Kingston and Richard and Donna Halukiewicz of Blossvale; two sisters, three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, Clara Williams of Rome, Agnes Reber of Rome, Joseph Awad of Oneida, LaNita Seibel of Verona, Dean Seibel of Oneida, Otis and Sally Seibel of Rome and Jane Warren of Ormond Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren and one step-grandchild, James Shields, Christine Kelly, John Halukiewicz, Lisa Halukiewicz, Dr. Kurt Hofmann, Eric Hofmann, Keith Hofmann and Jodi Cooksey; ten great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was one of 13 children, having been predeceased by Francis, John, Frank, Edward and Leon Prusinowski, Lillian Masztak, Helen Deeley, Sophie Stoddard, Theresa Awad and Frances Williams.
Mary was devoted to her family and delighted in being "Babcia" (Grandma) to the little ones. She was an avid gardener and generously shared the fruits of her labors with family and friends alike. She faced the serious challenges of her life with courage and grace and steadfast trust in the Lord. Mary's bright star will shine in our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida and 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary's of the Lake Church, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Charles Currie, pastor. Spring interment will be made in Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-7 p.m. Friday.
