MORRISVILLE >> William N. Davis, "Pa Bill," 96, of Peterboro Road, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
He was born Jan. 16, 1918 in the Town of Smithfield, a son of Gerald and Mildred Davis and received his education in Peterboro schools. On Feb. 26, 1942, Bill was united in marriage to Alice Warner in Clockville. Area residents most of their lives, they owned and operated their dairy farm until 1973. Alice predeceased him on Jan. 4, 2005.
Bill was a member of the Peterboro United Methodist Church; the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department; and the Peterboro Conservation Club. He served on the Peterboro Town Board for 28 years, and on the Board of the Peterboro Cemetery Association. Bill enjoyed gardening, trapping, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Eric Howard of Canastota; two grandsons, Seth (Heather) Howard of Canastota and Evan (Kristen) Howard of Rome; three great-grandchildren, Blake Howard, Gryffin and Greta Howard; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Maude Martin and Marian Bishop; and two brothers, Clifford and Harold Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 from the Burges & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville.
Spring interment will be in the Peterboro Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
