Glenn Keys Obituary

Glenn Curtis "Curt" Keys, 86, of Hughes Road, passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2011 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.
He was born Aug. 26, 1924 in Oneida, N.Y., a son of Glenn E. and Gussie Smith Keys. He received his early education in Waterville and Clinton schools, and graduated from Morrisville Agricultural and Technical College in 1945. A resident of Morrisville since 1939, Curt was a dairy farmer and had worked at SUNY-Morrisville for 30 years until his retirement in 1981. On Sept. 4, 1970, he married Carole L. Wilson in Erieville. His favorite pastime was bowling, and he was an honorary lifetime member of the Whereuwannabe Hunting Club of Old Forge.
Surviving are his wife, Carole; sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Mary Wilson, Rock Ledge, Fla., Mellory and Rogene Crowell, Cocoa Beach, Fla., Lauren and Marla Crowell, Clockville, Zackory and Mary Crowell, Hayes, Va., Shannon and Antji Keys, Cocoa Beach, Fla., Craig Keys, Morrisville; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Crowell, Lanexa, Va.; a daughter, Crystal Calhoun and Kevin Lasher, Vernon; a brother, Delbert and Jeanne Keys, Central Square; sisters, Bonita Holmes, Cazenovia and Jean Keys, Central Square; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many good friends. Two sons, Darcy Keys and Gregory Crowell predeceased him.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services or calling hours. Interment in the Village View Cemetery, Morrisville will be private at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Morrisville Cemetery Association, PO Box 32, Morrisville, NY 13408. I wish that I could have been there to say goodbye. Thank you for being such a wonderful grandpa. I have so many special memories of us both down at the barn. I think one of my favorites is the blackcap bushes. I would try to wake up extra early so that I could beat you there and eat them all. You would never get upset, even if I ate the one you had your eye on. I can't help but smile thinking about it. I love you and miss you alot!

Carol, Craig and the rest of the family. We are so sorry for your loss. I had just talked to Curt a few weeks back while working on the road. I will allway have fond memories of his stories of hunting on Larson road. And I always enjoyed stopping and talking to him when I was mowing roadsides, Curt was one of the good ones!
