SELINSGROVE, PA. >> Helen L. Yeman, 83, formerly of Oneida and Canastota, died on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at her home, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Sept. 29, 1930, in Canastota, the daughter of Edwin and Eva Niles Jaquin.
Helen spent her early years in Canastota, graduating from Canastota High School in 1948. She later lived in Oneida for many years, as well as Verona, moving to Selinsgrove 10 years ago to be near family.
She briefly worked at General Electric in Syracuse, and Grants Department Store in Oneida.
Helen enjoyed crocheting, playing computer games, and camping at Fish Creek Landing for many years.
She had been an active member of the former
Loyal Order of Moose
Helen first married Francis Lohr. She later married Ellsworth "Bud" Yeman on July 22, 1963 in Whitelaw, N.Y.
Surviving are: three sons and four daughters-in-law, John and Victoria Lohr of Selinsgrove, Pa., Peter and Patricia Yeman of Oneida Castle, William and Hazel Yeman of Albany, and Sheri Hall of Selinsgrove, Pa.; a daughter and son-in-law, Daune and John Browne of Callif, Maine; several grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Katrina and Brad Henderson of Selinsgrove, Pa.; many great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins. Helen was predeceased by two sons, William Lohr, and Budd Yeman, Jr.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Lenox Rural Cemetery, Nelson Road, Canastota. Pastor Donna Chapman, of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church, will officiate. At Helen's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota.
