Howard E. Orcutt Obituary
ONEIDA >> Howard E. Orcutt, 91, of Creek Road, passed away on Friday afternoon, June 6, 2014, in the Oneida Healthcare Center shortly after his admission.
Born in Merrillsville on Nov. 9, 1922, he was the son of Ethan N. and Rita Ingalls Orcutt. A lifelong resident of the area, Howard was a graduate of Stockbridge High School. He married Dorothy Cheney on Sept. 7, 1940.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Orcutt was the owner and operator of the Erie Hotel in Durhamville. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1940-1946. Howard was a member of the Durhamville Veteran's Club, the Munnsville American Legion, Post No. 54 and the VFW in Bridgeport.
Surviving are his wife Dorothy of Oneida; one daughter, Darlene Holllingsworth of Oneida; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Renee Orcutt of Cypress, Texas and William and Nancy Orcutt of St. Albans, Vt.; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Carol Cast of Seabrook, Texas; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Norman and Ardith Orcutt of Largo, Fla. and Joan Orcutt of Oneida and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Eunice North and one brother, Roger J. Orcutt.
Funeral services will be held privately and are under the direction of the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida.
