VERONA >> Llewellyn H. "Bud" Clanton, Jr., 93, of Station Street, formerly of West Sixth Street Oneida Castle died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 in Extended Care Facility.
Born in Durhamville on June 3, 1920, he was a son of Llewellyn H. and Julia Smith Clanton Sr. A life-long resident of the area, Bud was a graduate of Oneida High School. He married Virginia Sartwell on Sept. 3, 1942 in Oneida. Mrs. Clanton died Jan. 24, 2011.
Prior to his retirement Bud was employed with the US Postal Service in Oneida as the Superintendent of Mails. He was a communicant of St. Francis Church, a founding member, life-member and former secretary of the Durhamville Veterans Club, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Verona Post 6811, and a former member of the American Legion, Oneida Post 169. Bud served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in the European Theater. He had a great love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are: one son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Barbara Clanton of Verona; one sister-in-law, Katherine Clanton of Oneida; four grandchildren and their spouses, David and Eileen Clanton, Scott Clanton, Jason and Dana Clanton, Jeffrey and Barbara Clanton; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by one sister, Marion Johnson and two brothers, John "Jack" and Edmund Clanton.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, from Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc. 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Rev. Joseph Kehoe, officiating. Interment will be made, with full military honors, in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday.
