SHERRILL >> Pauline Marie Drobnica, 88, of Sherrill, died Friday evening, Jan. 18, 2013 after a long courageous struggle with heart disease. Pauline, born Nov. 11, 1924 in West Leyden, N.Y., was the daughter of Willard Redmond and Anna (Cullings) Farrar. She attended Rome City schools.
Pauline was predeceased by her husband, John P. Drobnica in 2000. During the 40's-50's John and Pauline maintained a family dairy farm in Verona, N.Y. She worked as a cook at the Bar-B-Q Pit Restaurant, Oneida and VVS High School cafeteria, Verona. Pauline was also employed by Oneida Ltd. Silversmiths and retired from the Brocade Dept. in 1974. A child of the Great Depression, Pauline was a hardworking, fiercely independent woman, who led a very frugal life. She was devoted to God and her family. Pauline loved gardening and when she could no longer plant a garden, she enjoyed growing veggies in containers at home. Over the years she enjoyed bowling at the CAC, square dancing in Arizona, Bible study groups and was very proud of her 2000 mile mall-walkers plaque.
For many years Pauline spent winters in Tucson, Ariz., near her daughter, Pat and family. She belonged to Sacred Heart Church, Arizona, Holy Family, Vernon, N.Y., St. Helena's and Plymouth Churches in Sherrill, N.Y. She was a member of the Moose Club, AARP, Catholic Daughters of America, Altar Rosary Society and a past member of the Oneida Ltd. Women's Governing Board.
Pauline is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Bill Brown of Tucson, Ariz. and Marie and Gene Galbraith of Sherrill, N.Y.; one son and his wife, John and Joanne Drobnica of Leander, Texas; grandsons, Luke, Mark, and Matthew Dibble of Tucson, Ariz., Antony Galbraith of Oneida, N.Y., Austin Drobnica of Leander, Texas; granddaughters, Miranda Galbraith of New York City and Kaleigh Galbraith of Oneida, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Megan, Jake and Delaney and great-great-grandchildren, Kaleigha, Liam and Zyler, all of Tucson, Ariz.
Also surviving Pauline are two sisters, June Bush and Barbara Bole, and her brother, Kenneth Farrar, all of Rome, N.Y., as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24 at Plymouth Alliance Church, 169 Kinsley St., Sherrill, N.Y., followed by committal at St. Francis Cemetery, Durhamville, N.Y.
