OCALA, FLA. >> Warren L. Clinch, 87, of Ocala, Fla., died on Wednesday morning, July 17, 2013, at his home in Brentwood at Fore Ranch. He passed from this life in the loving presence of his dear wife of 67 years, Joyce Knapp Clinch.
Clinch was born in Richfield Springs, N.Y., a son of Marvin L. and Maude Proctor Clinch. He served in the US Army during World War II, seeing action in the Third Army under General George Patton at the Battle of the Bulge and through the Allied Occupation of Berlin. Decorated with the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Bronze Star, Clinch turned down a battlefield commission in Europe in order to return home.

For most of his life he worked at the Oneida Heater Company, where he was ultimately president and sole stockholder. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and District Governor for Rotary International, served as an Approved Supply Pastor for the United Methodist Church, and went behind the Iron Curtain on a People To People mission with a group of New York State Methodist clergy.
Surviving with his wife, Joyce, are one daughter and one son-in-law, Lynne C. and T. Marshall Hopkins of Lock Haven, Pa.; one son and one daughter-in-law, Jon H. and Wendy N. Clinch of Plymouth, Vt.; one brother, Marvin L. Clinch; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Anne Clinch, and four brothers, Richard, Olin, Edward, and Willard Clinch.
When asked how he wanted to be remembered, Clinch said, "I was an honest, faithful husband and father. My family was the most important part of my life."
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 22, at Brentwood at Fore Ranch in Ocala. Memorial gifts may be sent to Hospice of Marion County, 3231 SW 24th Ave., Ocala, Fla. 34474.
