ROME - Brett L. Coleman, 19, of Rome, died Sunday, March 6, 2011. He was born on Oct. 3, 1991 in Syracuse, the son of the late Frank Jr. and Tracy Denney Coleman. Brett was a junior at Rome Free Academy.

Brett was a fine young man who enjoyed life with his family. He especially enjoyed music and playing basketball with his brother P.J. who was his best friend and the two were inseparable. Brett was a member of the DDSO, ARC of Oneida and the Blind Association.
Surviving are his mother, Tracy and fiance, Paul Ackerson of Rome; his brother, Frank III (P.J.) and fiancee, Mindy Dosztan of Rome; grandparents, Ronald and Rose Denney of Canastota, Frank and Geraldine Coleman Sr. of Rome and step-grandmother, Mari Jean Ackerson of Cicero. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Tammy and Wayne Learned of Canastota, Antoinette and Anthony Groomes of Rome, Karen and Keith Casolere of Canastota; two step-brothers, Joseph and Carl Ackerson of Rome; two nieces and godfather, Shaun Tellis and godmother, Victoria Carswell. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Jr.; a brother, Torreal and an uncle, Ronald T. (R.T.) Denney.
"Brett, you were loved by everyone, touched the hearts of all and will be missed by all. We love you. Your life was taken at such an early age, but you will be forever in our hearts."
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Rome. Spring interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Canastota. Relatives and friends may call at the Strong and Burns Funeral Home, 401 N. George St., Rome on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
