E. Parker Smith Obituary
E. Parker Smith, age 90, a lifelong resident of 5970 State Route 26 passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, March 18, 2012 in the farmhouse where he was born surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Dec. 27, 1921 in Lowell, N.Y., the son of the late Edward Z. and Harriett (Hatch) Smith and was a graduate of Westmoreland School.
On Oct. 6, 1951 Parker and Joan M. Greene were united in marriage in St. Peter's Church of Rome and shared that union of over 53 years together until Joan's death on Dec. 23, 2004.
Parker was a self-employed dairy farmer his entire life having been born, raised, worked and died on his family farm. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and was most known for his for his conversationalist skills that he enjoyed practicing every chance he got.
Surviving are his five children and their spouses, Karen (George) Puglisi of Canastota, Lorraine Semeraro (James Riccardi) of Cortland, Pamela Smith of Lowell, Jeanette (Thomas) Moats of Vernon and Gary (Josephine) Smith of Lowell, 13 grandchildren, Stephanie Lare Roselli, Chris Lare, Rebecca Lare, Cathy Lare, Kelly Semeraro, Patrick Semeraro, Lori Smith, Edward Smith, John Smith, Sara Smith, Shannon Moats, Vicki Moats and Teresa Moats, four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Roselli, Samuel Roselli, Sophia Roselli and Matthew R. Lare and one sister-in-law Carol Riordan of Phoenix, Ariz., and a lifelong friend, Maryanne Whittemore. The family would like to specially thank Walt, Skip, Lyle and Jim for their weekly visits and a special thank you to Lois at the Rome Berkshire Bank.
Parker was predeceased by his wife, Joan and two grandchildren, Matthew A. Lare and Suzann Smith.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front St., Vernon. Parker's funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lowell Cemetery, Blackmans Corners Road, Lowell, N.Y.
