Eugene Lee "Gene" Yerdon Obituary
VERONA -- -Eugene 'Gene' Lee Yerdon, 80, passed away June 20, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
Gene was born in Hannibal, NY on Jan. 25, 1932, a son of Leland and Claire Engle Yerdon.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. On Nov. 27, 1971, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rome, NY, he was united in marriage to the former Beverly Hurd.
For eight years Gene attended the VA Adult Care Center, in Rome, NY. He was a member of the 7th DB Abiding Love Ministries.
Gene loved playing games and sitting down to color with his grandkids. He had many interests and was very creative. Gene enjoyed working with his hands and creating new things, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved Christian gospel and country music.
Surviving Gene, besides his wife Beverly of 40 years, are two daughters, Deborah Yerdon and Angelo, Oswego, NY and Rebecca & Ken Stover, Vernon, NY, two sons, David and Lisa Yerdon, Oswego, NY and Cecil & Monique Yerdon, Mexico, NY, ten grandchildren, Eugene III, Eric, Amy, Ashley, Emily, Kenny Ray, Shaeley, Joshua, Jacob, Arianna, two step-grandchildren, Frank and Sonia, six great grandchildren, Ely, Steven, Matthew, Jayden, Sophie and Brianna, two brothers, Richard 'Dick' Yerdon and Mary, Camden, NY and Gerald 'Jerry' and Liz Yerdon, California, MD, four sisters, Pauline Willson, Florence, NY, Shirley Hull, Sandy Creek, NY, Betty and Phil Beebe, Fulton, NY, and Elaine 'Suz' and John Yerdon, Redfield, NY, and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by one daughter, Cheryl Lynn Yerdon, 1971, two sons, Glenn 'Glenney' Robert Yerdon, 1980, Eugene Lee Yerdon, Jr., 1999, and two brothers, Ronald L. Yerdon, 1972, and Robert S. Yerdon, 1990.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 am, from the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc. Interment at the Redfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, 5 pm to 8 pm at 109 Main St., Camden, NY.
