CANASTOTA >> Frederick Markle, 77, of Canastota passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Chittenango Center. Fred was a life resident of the Chittenango-Canastota area. He was a self-employed carpenter for 55 years retiring in 2010. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. Fred enjoyed working at the Kelsey Farm, golf and bowling. He was predeceased by his daughter, Vicki Markle in 2006, his parents Carl and Anna Markle, his brother Carl Markle and his sisters, Janet Knapp and Wilda Gifford. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Donna Kellish; his daughters, Laurie Gliboff (Michael) of Monroe, N.Y., and Deborah Jean Markle (Kevin) of Canastota; his brothers, Thomas Markle (Carol) of Kirkville and Melvin Markle (Beverly) of Chittenango; his sisters, Edna Johnson of Chittenango, Mary Steding (Jerry) of Lakeport, Sandra Tuttle (Richard) of Canastota, Donna Bednar of Pennsylvania, Diane Russett of Cortland, Patricia Marshall (Mike) of Cazenovia and Linda Narzymski of Ravena; three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Chittenango, 520 Tuscarora Road. Burial with military honors will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Chittenango. Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the church. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum, 7010 Lakeport Road, Chittenango or the Sullivan Food Cupboard, 206 Tuscarora Road, Chittenango, 13037.
