Howard E. Aldasch Obituary
ROME >> Howard E. Aldasch, 75, of 400 Lori Lane, died Monday afternoon, Oct. 21, 2013, at his residence with his loving family at his side, following a long illness.
He was born Oct. 29, 1937, in Oswego, the son of George and Charlotte Holliday Aldasch. He served as an Oneida City fireman from 1959 to 1966. Howard had been employed as a bus driver for the Greyhound Bus Lines in Syracuse for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He had served as secretary and treasurer of Local No. 1201. From 1991 to 1995, he was employed with the Madison County Sheriff's office. From 1996 to 2000, he was with Oneida Madison Transit. At one time, he owned the former M&M Luncheonette, in Sherrill.
On Aug. 14, 1982, he was united in marriage to Argarette Niles. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. Surviving is his wife, Arlie, of Rome; five sons, John and Carol, of Canastota; Michael and Bonnie, of Stockbridge; Mark, of Fulton; Scott and Irene Kiner, of Rome; and Bert and Donna Kiner, of Verona; and three daughters, Susan and Karl Adamik, of Lee Center, Genevieve Havener, of Oneida, and Anne Aldasch, of Oneida. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson, Ryan Aldasch, on May 9, 2008.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 from the Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave., Oneida, at 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in St. Helena's Church, Sherrill, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. William Mesmer, pastor.
Interment will be made in North Scriba Cemetery, where the committal prayers will be recited by Deacon Elbert Niles, brother-in-law of the deceased. Friends are invited and may call on Thursday, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
