Larry M. Meyers Obituary
MUNNSVILLE - Larry M. Meyers, 70, Greene Acres Park, died Sunday morning, Aug. 5, 2012, at his home, following a brief illness.
Born in Oneida, on Oct. 22, 1941, he was a son of Harry and Florence Kimball Meyers. A longtime resident of Oneida, until he moved to Munnsville in 2008, Larry was educated in Oneida schools and served with the United States Army National Guard for four years. He married Ellen Johnston in Oneida, on Dec. 21, 1963.
Prior to his retirement, Larry was employed with the City of Oneida as the Animal Control Officer and following this retirement, served as the manager of Oneida Garden Apartments. He was a member of the American Legion, Oneida Post No. 169, the Order of the Owls, Oneida Nest 1606, the former Loyal Order of the Moose, Oneida Lodge No. 421 and the Legion of Moose and Ducks Unlimited.
Surviving besides his wife, Ellen, are his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Alicia Meyers of Oneida Castle; his daughter, Dawn Marie Meyers of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren, Brian Meyers, Amber Jean, Kyle Meyers, Emily Meyers and Larry Balcom; five great-grandchildren, Jaidyn, Dakari, Isabelle, Ryan and Earl; one brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Susan Meyers of Oneida; two sisters, Sonia Edwards of Rome and Bonnie Bartlett of Oneida, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Bruce, Warren "Bill," Harry and Eugene Meyers and four sisters, Nancy Tianello, Shannon Duell, Audrey Foley and Anetta Hurd.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Rev. Brian Fellows, officiating. Interment will be made in Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 3-7 p.m., Wednesday. Contributions, in his memory, may be made to the , Box 3049, Syracuse, N.Y. 13220. Envelopes for this fund may be obtained at the funeral home.
