ONEIDA >> Philip W. Baker, known to many as Beaner, 72, of 209 E. Railroad St., died Sunday evening, Feb. 23, 2014, in the Oneida Healthcare's Extended Care Facility, where he had been a resident since Dec. 4, 2013.
He was born Sept. 11, 1941 in Oneonta, a son of John and Mildred Breece Baker. He attended schools in Central Square and Sherburne. He had many different jobs during his working career. He enjoyed gardening, socializing, sports, playing cards and was a member of the Oneida Owls Nest No. 1606. The joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Josie; three sons, Randy of Oneida, Christopher and Nicole of Oneida and Jeffrey and Kimberly of Woodbridge, Va.; two sisters, Barbara, of Baldwinsville, and Grace, of Oxford, N.Y., and four grandchildren. Phil was predeceased by one son, Stephen, and three brothers, David, Jack, and Paul.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 7 p.m. from the Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave., Oneida. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. preceding the services.
