FALLING WATERS, W.V. >> Preston Paige Piper Sr., 87, of Falling Waters, W.V., passed away Dec. 28, 2017 at home with his family by his side.

Preston was born to Samuel Webster Piper and Anna Buryl Fleet, Dec. 17, 1930, in Hagerstown, Md. He married Ethel Joyce May in January 1952, while living in Sylvan Beach, N.Y. They had two children. He later married Catherine Elaine Granger in June 1959, of North Bay, N.Y. and had six children. They later moved to Falling Waters, W.V.

Preston leaves behind his loving wife, Cathy, as well as his legacy eight children: Preston Michael Piper and wife Pamela Ashley of North Bay/Rochester, N.Y.; Jean Ann Piper-Day of Rome, N.Y.; Preston Paige Piper Jr. and fiancé Beverly Gerlach of Pikesville, W.V.; Daniel Carl Piper of Columbus, Ga; Christine Elaine Piper-Frick and husband Michael of Martinsburg, W.V., Samuel David Piper, William Ross Piper, and Christopher Allen Piper all of Falling Waters, W.V. He also leaves to cherish his memory nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by Samuel Webster Piper (father), Anna Buryl Fleet-Piper-Kershner-Houser (mother), Daniel Piper, (brother), Deborah Happle-Piper (daughter-in-law), Jacob Piper (brother), Michael Andrew Piper, (grandson), and Diane Piper-Butler (granddaughter).

Preston's military service included the Navy from 1949-1953, and the NY Army National Guard until 1978. He retired from Rome State School in Rome, N.Y. and Shepard College in West Virginia.

Preston requested a private memorial service which will be announced at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Panhandle at 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, W.V. 25430. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of the Panhandle and partners with the VA Medical Center for the care they provided. Everyone's loving care will never be forgotten.
