"Sukosh" Fearon III, 64, Broad Street, died late Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, in the Extended Care Facility of the Oneida Healthcare Center, with his family by his side, where he had been a patient for the past four days, following an illness of the past several months.Born on Nov. 16, 1953, at the United States Air Force Base in Tachacowka, Japan, he was the son of Robert H. and Ada May Marshall Fearon Jr. A lifelong resident of Oneida, and summer resident of Thousand Island Park, Sukosh attended the New York State School for the Blind in Batavia. He later transferred to Oneida and was the first blind person to graduate from Oneida High School, Class of 1972. He went on to graduate from the Newhouse School of Syracuse University. He married Patricia Brown Malbouf at Stockbridge Falls on Sept. 16, 2000.Following his graduation from Syracuse University, Sukosh was employed for two years with WAER radio and then with Madison County ADAPT. For the past 36 years, he has been employed with NBT Bank, which was the former Oneida Valley National Bank.Sukosh was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oneida and its choir, a member and past president of the Lions Club of Canastota, a board member of the United Way, a member and lodge organist of the Oneida Elks Lodge No. 767 B.P.O.E., a member of the Tri-Valley Masonic Lodge No. 148 F. & A.M. and a former member of Loyal Order of the Moose, Oneida Lodge No. 421.He was very well known throughout Central New York as a musician, playing country and rock and roll music since the 1970s.Surviving besides his wife, Patricia and his parents, Robert and Ada May, are his four step-sons and their spouses, Joseph and Barbara Malbouf of Oneida and their children, Matthew, Amy and Daniel, Lyle and Diane Malbouf of Canastota and their children, Krystle, Lyle III, Gregory, Heather, Brittany and Ryan, Stephen Malbouf and Nicole Sawenko of Oneida and their sons, Maxwell and Mitchell, and David and Carrie Malbouf of Canastota, and their children, Allyson and Jacob; his two sisters and brother-in-law, Zoe Fearon of Arlington, Va. and Mary Pat and Bradford Adams of Oneida; his nieces and nephews, Sarah and Victor Yu, Hannah and Marcus Dormanen, Emma and Clint Smith, Sam Adams and Ben Adams; his aunts and uncles, Zoe Mary and Edwin Veasey of Haverhill, Mass. and Dr. James and Ruth Marshall of Fayetteville; 11 step great-grandchildren and several cousins.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 from the First United Methodist Church, Grove at Main Street, Oneida, with the Reverends Abigail Browka and Denise Bowen, co-officiating.
